FOUR MOODS OF WATER

Choose the sound
of your garden

Water can be silent and mirror-still, or bright and full of voice. The right feature depends on the space you have and the mood you want to live with.

Still

Reflecting pools

A calm, mirror-like surface that doubles the sky, the planting and the architecture around it.

  • Quiet, restful presence
  • Works in compact courtyards
  • Pairs well with stone and light
Lively

Fountains

Sculptural jets and bowls that add sparkle, sound and a natural focal point to a terrace or lawn.

  • A focal point for the view
  • Soothing, cooling sound
  • Many forms and finishes
Flowing

Cascades & wall features

Water that runs down stone, slate or glass, bringing movement and gentle sound to a wall or a quiet corner.

  • Suits tight spaces
  • Textured stone backdrops
  • Beautiful when lit at night
Natural

Ponds & water bodies

Larger, planted water that feels part of the landscape, with room for stones, lilies and a soft edge.

  • Planted, natural-feeling edges
  • Room for aquatic plants
  • Stone and pebble detailing

BEHIND THE CALM

The quiet look
takes careful work

A water feature that looks effortless is usually the result of good engineering underneath. These are the things we plan before the water is ever switched on.

01

Setting & scale

We size and place the water to suit the space, from a small corner trickle to a feature that anchors the whole garden.

02

Pumps & circulation

Pumps and pipework are planned for steady flow and matched to the feature, with service access built in from day one.

03

Filtration & clarity

Good filtration keeps the water clean and clear, so it stays a pleasure to look at rather than a chore to manage.

04

Safe edges

Depths, edges, steps and surfaces are planned with everyday safety in mind, especially around children and pets.

05

Stone, planting & light

Stone finishes, planting and lighting frame the water and make it glow after dark.

06

Care & maintenance

We think about upkeep early, so the feature is easy to look after, and we give guidance on how to keep it at its best.

FROM FIRST IDEA TO FIRST RIPPLE

Following the water,
step by step

01

Read the site

We study the space, the light, the levels and where the water can sensibly go, and listen to what you want from it.

02

Choose the character

Still or lively, formal or natural. We settle the style, the scale and the sound of the feature together.

03

Plan the flow

Pumps, pipework, filtration, edges and finishes are worked out so the feature runs smoothly and safely.

04

Build & hand over

Our team builds, fills and tests the feature, then hands it over with guidance on everyday care.

That is up to the design. A gentle trickle and a splashing jet sound very different, so we choose the form and the flow with the sound you want in mind.

It depends on the type and the size. We plan filtration and access for servicing from the start, and we give guidance on routine care after handover.

Often, yes, with the right planning. Weight, waterproofing and drainage need to be checked first, so we review the site and the structure before we propose anything.

Safety is part of the design. We plan depths, edges and surfaces carefully, and for a more cautious approach we can suggest shallow styles or fountains with a hidden reservoir.
